Susan was born and raised in Staten Island, NY. In New York, she worked for the Associated Press as a Systems Specialist Supervisor for over ten years. Prior to that, she worked as a Phlebotomist and EMT at St. Vincent's Hospital for fifteen years.

Susan has always been an avid animal lover and has had beagles her entire life. She currently owns five beagles; two boys and three girls. She has also done competition equestrian events. She currently co-owns and operates a commercial embroidery business, Stitch Hounds, Inc. Her dedication to animal rescue shows even in her business where a percentage of profits are donated to animal rescue causes.
           
Susan is on the board of directors of Animal Rescue Association of America, 2006-Present, as the corporate secretary. She is also the co-founder and current Vice President of Cascade Beagle Rescue, based in Portland, Oregon.

  Managed intakes, adoptions, transports, veterinary care, fundraising events.
